450,000 km maximum distance on KMAX tyres

As a family business, Transportes Hermanos Chinchón takes its values very seriously. Santiago Chinchón, whose father started the business in 1970 with just one four-axle Pegasus truck, lists the company’s most important values as “honesty, humility and punctuality for the customer”.

These values drive the company to maximise value by getting the best possible performance from its tyres - but also minimising any incidents which might impact on deliveries.

"The Goodyear tyres have given me good performance and we have had zero incidents"

By measuring the relative performance of Goodyear FUELMAX and KMAX tyres, Santiago has a very good idea of how to get best value: “The KMAX tyre is very profitable – we have got up to 450,000km from it. It’s a very good tyre. The FUELMAX does fewer kilometres, but it consumes much less fuel.”

Retreading and regrooving is also a key part of the equation, which is managed through Goodyear, but with Santiago keeping a close eye on results and recording them diligently for analysis. His research shows that retreading can add another 40-45% to the life of the tyre. But perhaps more importantly, the quality of the retread gives him confidence that the company will fulfil its promise to be on time for every customer: “I have studied Goodyear retreading and the yields are very good. The tyres have given me good performance and we have had zero incidents”.
